And so, i spent my day doing duty browsing through wikipedia especially on extinct animals... It's such a pity that we never get to see some amazing species...
Having fun calling myself a 'Dodo bird'... Why? Literally, the origin of the name, 'Dodo' might have come from the direct translation of 'dodou' in portugese as "Fool" or "Crazy". Therefore, eliz has the habit of calling me, "Crazy pig", so i suggested to her, "Why not a DODO bird?' Haha!
Oh, and another fact is on how the name of the kangaroo came about.
"A common myth about the kangaroo's English name is that it came from the Aboriginal words for "I don't understand you." According to this legend, Captain James Cook and naturalist Sir Joseph Banks were exploring Australia when they happened upon the animal. They asked a nearby local what the creatures were called. The local responded "Kangaroo", meaning "I don't understand you", which Cook took to be the name of the creature. Kangaroo soon became adopted into standard English where it has come to mean any member of the family of kangaroos and wallabies."
So instead of telling someone, "I don't understand you.", why not just say, "KANGAROO!"
My camp mates seems surprise about my sudden findings on wikipedia... Never knew i am a huge animal lover that even dear Eliz suggested i work in the zoo... Why not huh?
Oh, i am so amazed on how mongoose (rodents) can kill a king cobra or any other venomous snakes! They have a technique, and well, pretty cunning creatures...
You know what excite me? Reading a topic about extinct mammals and reading that there have been rumours and possible finding that the particular extinct creature could still be alive! Haha! I'll be next to find it! I wish!
